Production

Production had a lot of pressure as it all comes down to the footage we are able to capture with the professional equipment we used. This equipment held a Sennheiser Shotgun mic, Lexar Pro memory card, Vintner Tripod and a Black Magic Mini URSA.

Hardware

Memory card

I used the Lexar Pro memory card inserted into the camera to store all the footage we got on the day which we then uploaded onto Adobe premier Pro for editing late

Tripod

The tripod we used on our shoot day was the Vinten Tripod which allows us to change the height and angle the camera is at while filming. The shots we capture with help from the tripod were many panning shots to add to the feeling of chaos and track the characters movement. A moment this panning paid off was when our villain character played by Ali Mirmack is picking out a torture tool and the camera follows the tools he is picking up ultimately creating more suspense. When first using the tripod you have to decide what height you want the tripod at and then slide and clip the legs when you get there. Then we locked the tripod on moth sides so it would stay firm in place. Then you bubble the tripod by getting the air bubble into the centre of the yellow circle. All of these steps allow you to make the camera freely while still having the stability you need to created a focused shot.

Online

We used WhatsApp, snapchat in order make sure everyone was keeping to schedule and prepared but also to shared photos captured on the day. We also took many breaks between shooting so it was to make sure that the actors were where we needed them too

Microphone

A sennheiser Shotgun was used as a microphone to capture all of the diegetic dialogue and ambient sound we want for the sequence like the sound of Adam’s screams and Ali’s footsteps to add more realistic elements to our opening. You plug the microphones cord to the camera and hold the mic close but out of shot while wearing headphones so you can hear what exactly you are capturing.

Camera

The camera we used to capture all of our footage for our opening was the Black Magic Mini URSA. We had to place the camera in the places we wanted to film just before we started filming to make sure everyone had the right idea of what it would look like before. We used techniques such as zooming, panning and CU to create a full set of opposition while editing but also to add more interesting points of view. We used a Cu on Adams feet getting hit by the hammer to increase the gore but also as an option we can cut to when editing. We also at times placed the camera on the tripod or on the floor to get the right angles for our footage.

Software

I used outlook as a form of communication for the actors to make sure they knew were they needed to be and when they needed to be there, I also used this platform to keep in touch with our supervisor for the shoot.
